The client
Our client is a leading Premier League football club that employs more than 1,000 people across football and business operations, from coaches, sports scientists, medics, and analysts to marketing, legal, venue management, stadium operations, HR and finance teams.
The challenge
For several years, this world-famous club relied on a very old finance system and a whole series of ancillary systems and spreadsheets to manage its finances. A change in ownership created the demand for greater financial transparency and faster reporting. At the same time, regulatory pressure from the UK and European football authorities was increasing, creating a clear need for modern finance systems and processes.
The club asked Change Associates to help them source a new system.
What we did
We worked closely with the finance team to shape a structured systems selection process, drawing on our finance transformation and technology expertise.
Our consultants:
- Scanned the market and built a shortlist of three suitable software platforms
- Identified the best-matched system integrators (SIs) for each option
- Gathered functional and technical requirements, created a procurement plan, and prepared a robust Request for Proposal (RFP) for the client to take to market
- Supported initial vendor engagement, then handed over smoothly to the in-house procurement team to complete the process.
The result
- A prioritised list of three well-matched software vendors
- A tailored list of preferred SIs, aligned to each vendor
- A structured procurement pack ready to take to market
- A clear, confident handover to the client team with no further consulting required
