Our clients are two well-known brands in different parts of the leisure industry.
In this leisure industry case study we explain how we used Orgvue Rapid Assessment to identify efficiencies for two different leisure industry brands.
The challenge
Both clients wanted to review their organisation structures using a detailed data-driven approach.
One client was open-minded about what they might find and wanted to use the review to identify opportunities across their global team to improve effectiveness while reducing cost.
The second client started with two specific focus areas:
- To consider a key General Manager role that was not working consistently well across different locations.
- To explore opportunities for shared services to improve efficiency.
They asked Change Associates to help.
What we did
We recommended a review using orgvue’s industry-leading organisational analysis and modelling software and the new Orgvue Rapid Assessment methodology. This has been developed to allow organisations to get to grips with their organisation quickly and cost-effectively.
We assembled two small teams with organisation design, Orgvue modelling and leisure industry expertise to complete the reviews.
In both organisations we worked closely with the leadership teams to source, organise and load the people data.
Client 1
For one client, this exercise revealed their data was not in great shape, so we spent extra time cleaning the data and embedding the importance of managing data quality. Once the baseline was established, we looked at activities in more detail and used Orgvue’s scenario modelling to review future options with key leaders.
This enabled them to make informed decisions about reshaping the head office function and moving activities into shared services. Further analysis was needed to agree detailed changes for the rest of the business.
We saw that many of the data concerns were related to issues with HR processes and systems and suggested a review of these areas to improve data quality in future.
Client 2
Our second client’s data was less of an issue following the implementation of a new HR information system, so we progressed more quickly to the analysis and reporting.
This client was particularly interested in how their organisation compared with others. We provided relevant data and case studies while advising that such broad benchmarks could only be used for general guidance. We recommended using specialist benchmarking firms if the client wanted more depth in this area.
The analysis highlighted key areas of focus, with significant differences between functions and territories around the world.
We made a series of recommendations for changing the operating model and identified several potential cost savings.
The result
Both clients felt they quickly gained:
- An accurate organisational baseline and a single source of truth for their people data
- Powerful insights to build a change plan, including external perspectives
- A leadership team fully aware of the as-is position and aligned on the future change
