ORGANISATION DESIGN
Case Study Summary
Improving organisational effectiveness in the luxury goods sector
The challenge
After developing a new strategy and launching a broad transformation programme, the HR team of this global luxury brand wanted to improve organisational effectiveness. They aimed to better understand their structure and create a more agile, efficient organisation guided by clear principles.
Impressed by Change Associates’ experience with other luxury sector brands, they asked us to help.
What we did
We trained the senior HR team in organisation design and effectiveness, and built a shared understanding and language.
Through workshops, we developed organisation design principles focused on: strategic alignment, organisation efficiency, accountability and collaboration, which were approved by senior leaders.
We then analysed the operating model, culture, and structure, and used Orgvue to assess 20,000 roles across 40 locations. This revealed opportunities to simplify structures, reduce costs, and design larger, more engaging roles – particularly by addressing many one-to-one reporting lines.
The result
-
Leadership endorsed and adopted the new design principles
-
The business gained a detailed understanding of its structure and cost base
-
The HR team felt equipped to lead the organisation effectiveness agenda
