Following the Savile scandal, the BBC wanted a consultation on people’s working experience in the corporation. The project needed a sensitive approach. Change Associates was asked to help.
What we did
Dinah Rose QC, a barrister with expertise in discrimination and employment law, was asked to oversee what became known as the BBC Respect at Work Review, conducted by Change Associates.
We ran a series of interviews and focus groups, scheduled to maximise participation while ensuring we could meet the BBC’s tight deadlines. A confidential email address allowed for anonymous contributions.
In total, we received input from 930 freelancers and staff at all levels. We analysed the data and delivered a report to the Board, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
The BBC accepted our analysis and conclusions. Our conclusions were endorsed by the unions also supported and endorsed.
BBC employers were soon able to see positive changes happening because of the review.
